I will be stopping in London for a flight change arriving at 10.55 p.m. on a Sunday and departing at 5.00 p.m.Considering a check in time of 3.00 p.m. can anyone suggest a sight-seeingtrip using the tube… I have 2 boys aged 13 & 16 and none of us have everbeen to London & thought this would be a perfect opportunity to take thetube and tour bus.Can you suggest stn to get off Heathrow and where to get the buses from and if you think that the 4hrs would be comfortable to take the risk of leaving the airport and being back on time.Your suggestion are greatly appreciated, first time in London and we are excited.

I don’t think that 4 hours would be enough to see anything comfortably in London. By the time you’ve got to the tube station at Heathrow (sorry if I’m spouting facts to you you may already know, but it’s the largest airport in Europe…) you will need about an hour to reach the centre of London, where the tour buses are. So, that’s two hours at least for the round trip Heathrow-London-Heathrow. In addition, the London travel network is notorious for engineering works at weekends, so there is an added risk of delay.
I really think if you went to central London, you would not be able to relax and see things properly - although a quick glimpse of Picadilly, or Leicester and Trafalgar Squares may be possible.
I hope that perhaps someone else may suggest something not so central and nearer to Heathrow that you can enjoy.
Have a good trip!
the only tube run from Heathrow is Piccadilly Line. You need to allow at least 1 hour to reach Central London, and if it is Sunday morning, add 30 mins to that. that mean it will be somehow risky if you are going to the Central unless you are going to have a very very quick look (and you can’t). There are lots of nice places, like Hammersmith [40 Mins] (busy town with shops and Restuarants) and Gloucester Road (museums and kids fun), Check the website for London Transport There you can get the map for the buses and underground trains including times, costs and use the journey planner which will tell you how to get anywhere. this website is also usefull for information about touring the city.
Have a nice time in London!
