What are great sights in London and France for an interior designer to check out?

I am an interior designer taking my first trip to london and paris next year. I want to get the most out of my experience there and hopefully gain some inspiration and knowledge that can be applied to my work. I want to know what are some “must see” sights in those cities that every interior designer must explore in those cities.

I dont know much about interior design, but if you are looking for tourist destinations that inspire, check out the Tate museum of modern art in London, the Musee d’Orsay and Versailles palace in Paris. If you want to see actual cutting edge room design, I would suggest that you just go to some of the more upscale boutique hotels in both cities, and just tell them you would like to see a room. In London, you might be interested in:
The Charlotte Street
The Soho
The Metropolitan
The Knightbridge
The Number Sixteen
In Paris, there are a million places to look, but I like:
Hotel Sezz
La Reserve Paris.
If youre a foodie, check out the Black Calvados if you can get in, its in the 8th.
Make a short list of museums you want to see, either as architecture or interior design or for the art they show.
I think about the British museum, the National gallery, the Victoria and Albert Museum, there are also museums that are more modern, either in building or in collection.
Or look through this list, more museums than you could dream about:
Paris has a like collection of museums:
The Louvre, Musée d’Orsay, Musée National du Moyen-Age; Thermes de Cluny, Musée national d’Art moderne - Centre Georges Pompidou to name a few, more can be found on this list/map:
Or here:
If you are into classics, the famous churches are famous for a good reason.
If you are into modern, the newest entertainment complexes will show you other peoples work, even when you do not even go to a show.
Next make a short list of Shops, department stores or specialist shops you know about and which you would like to see.
If you are into the cutting edge of interior design, get some magazines and shortlist also some clubs or restaurants.
But do not forget to plan some time to enjoy being tourist, it is very annoying to go home and realize that you have not seen any of the things you would have visited if you did not have a plan.
